Tell Your Representative that HB 4005 Hurts Oregon Jobs and the Economy!

Oregon strongly supports its workers in the trade union movement and industries that boost the economy and provide high quality jobs.  This includes companies in the life-sciences industry which rely on Oregon’s labor unions to provide reliable, high-skilled labor to build and retrofit state-of-the-art research and manufacturing facilities where treatments and cures are produced.

However, some in the Oregon legislature are considering HB 4005 which would threaten the emerging biotech industry and the thousands of jobs that they provide.  This bill requires the disclosure of federally protected trade-secret information that would have no benefit to patients and would do nothing to decrease healthcare costs. On the contrary, the Federal Trade Commission has determined that the extensive and costly requirements could actually increase the price of medicines for patients.

The life-sciences industry directly supports over 14,000 jobs in the state. This legislation could threaten good paying Oregon jobs and decrease access to medicines.
